Assignment 3: Stage 2

so here's short preview of what i sort of expect from my final product. though it should be more dynamic and have more photos and stuff.

nothing much changed from Stage 1, except that i added a poem to the movie, sort of a narration.
and i also animated it to a short clip.

photos used are still stocked photos, since i might change the project after the critique session.

just a note: as mentioned above. most things in the clip are not finalised. this is just to get a feel of what i want and expect to do.

any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

p.s. just browsed through my post and saw that the video doesn't run smoothly, or maybe it's just my comp. anyway, the transitions should be smooth.

Assignment 3: Stage 1

our 3rd individual assignment is to create a movie with a love theme.

the aim is to create a story using 40 or more pictures.

after thinking through the week, i still cant come up with a story that isn't too cheesy or 'been-there-done-that'. so I decided not to do a story, and tried to make a point instead.

valnetine's day has been made into this glorious day that people express their most heartfelt love with roses, expensive lunches/dinners and what-not. but why should we just let the people we love know that we love them only on this day? (anyway, this is not that point)

like on all other valentine's day, not everyone will have someone to be with. so this movie is for those that are alone.
the point being, there's nothing wrong being alone, and we have learn to live with ourselves before we try to live with someone else. if u can't stand being alone with yourself, wouldn't it mean that you don't love yourself enough?
anyway. the movie will be centered by the main theme of - ONE.

so here's the abstract, cut-down version of the storyboard.

things to change:
photos - need to take my own photos. (to be done after Stage 2.)

anyway, if feedback for stage 2 is not satisfactory. i may just change the whole concept.

Assignment 2

Second individual assignment was a to create web page depicting a typical day.

this was quite tough, as my typical day would be spent doing almost nothing. so instead of handing in a blank webpage, i decided to include activities that are most likely that i would do.

link to web page: here

*note: i will be replacing the photos with better quality ones.

Assignment 1

First individual assignment is to make a movie poster for a dark comedy entitled 'Dreams'.

first off was the brain storming and sketching in class.

[insert scanned sketches(after i fix my scanner)]

Anyway, after consulting. I was left with a poster that showed a burning match and an extinguished candle. this was to show a reversal of sacrifice, i.e. a child sacrificing for his parents... etc. although i liked the idea alot, it was quite a task to illustrate the story.

so whilst thinking of how i should do the poster, i thought of another idea that involved conjoined twins. following that idea, and my limited drawing abilities, i came up with the poster for assigment 1.

basically, the story is about a conjoined twin where one of the does not grow old (Mr. A.) and the other does (Mr. B). Mr B sacrifices his whole life so that the brother (Mr. A) would not have to work. Mr A takes advantage and leads a carefree life, whilst Mr B works.
in the end, Mr. B dies, and so doing, Mr A dies too.

things that need to be fixed:
text
drawing
colours

there will be an update for this poster in the near future.
